ROME (Dow Jones)--Enel SpA (ENEL.MI), Italy's biggest utility by revenue, said Friday it has signed a memorandum of understanding with infrastructure fund F2i to study possible joint projects in the country's natural gas storage market, with potential investment of EUR250 million.

Enel and F2i are looking at several projects that may take off from the first months of 2008, the Rome-based utility said in a statement.

The two are looking at investments in gas storage capacity of at least 500 million cubic meters.

Enel said the accord will allow it to have sufficient storage capacity to meet its winter gas demand from clients and power generating facilities.
