"Our wish is to become owners of a 15% stake in their NPP and we are ready to pay a good price for that," Vucic said in a video file posted on the YouTube channel of news agency Tanjug on Thursday.
The proposal was made last week during a meeting with Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban in the framework of the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Vucic said.
"However, those negotiations are still in an initial phase and the expansion of Paks NPP will not be completed until 2035," Vucic said.
Vucic said last week that Serbia is in talks for the acquisition of up to 12% interest in Paks.
The Paks NPP is equipped with four pressurised water reactors with a capacity of 500 MW each, whose licences expire in the period between 2032 and 2037. The Hungarian government is currently implementing a project with Russia’s state-owned company Rosatom for the construction of two units of 1,200 MW each to replace the old reactors.
