"Our proprietary program reinforces safety and security and is implemented across the U.S. nuclear industry and meets international regulations for nuclear power plants," Tarik Choho, Westinghouse president of Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) operating plant services business unit said in a statement on Wednesday.
The contract will provide for the implementation of high-tech solutions for protection against cyberattacks, thus enhancing the overall network and information security of the plant, Nasko Mihov, CEO of Kozloduy NPP said.
The value of the deal was not disclosed. The project will begin next month and is expected to be completed by October 2023.
The Westinghouse solution is the only cybersecurity offering that can be integrated safely with Ovation based digital control systems, Westingouse noted.
In 2020, Westinghouse signed a contract with Kozloduy NPP to migrate the plant's Ovation platform-based information and control systems at its only operational units 5 and 6 after the plant operator invited Westinghouse in 2019 to upgrade the system for an estimated 63.5 million levs.
