Serbian energy minister Zorana Mihajlovic said that Serbia will no longer be able to import Russian crude oil from November 1 as a consequence of the sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia

Serbia will have to purchase oil from other suppliers, Mihajlovic said, as quoted in a statement by the energy ministry.

Serbia is already importing oil from Iraq and other countries. Russian imports meet about 50% of the country's needs, 30% comes from other suppliers, and 20% is covered by domestic oil, she added.

In July, the energy ministry said that Serbia is in the initial stage of negotiations with Azerbaijan on natural gas deliveries starting next year in a bid to diversify its suppliers.
