The Croatian state-owned development bank HBOR and the ministry of regional development and EU funds have agreed to provide 250 million euro ($268 million) in loans to companies for energy efficiency projects, HBOR on Tuesday

The programme offers favourable loans with the possibility of partial loan write-off based on energy-saving criteria to encourage sustainable business practices and boost the Croatian economy, HBOR said in a press release.

Loans will be available in the first half of 2025. They are intended for companies operating in the manufacturing industry, as well as in the commercial and service sectors.

This financial instrument will be made available via commercial banks that will be selected by HBOR through a public procurement procedure. In this way, some 125 million euro of private capital from banks will be committed to the programme.

Loans of up to 3 million euro will be available to entrepreneurs at favourable interest rates, since a part of the loan will be interest-free thanks to the European Structural and Investment Funds.
