National Iranian Gas Exporting Co. chief Seyyed Reza Kasaeizadeh said Sunday that Iran, Qatar and Russia will hold another round of natural gas talks Wednesday, Nov. 12, in Doha, the semi-official Mehr News Agency reported Sunday.

"The main point of this round of trilateral gas talks is about the formation of a technical committee," Kasaeizadeh said, adding that "a delegation from Iran will attend these talks," reported Mehr.

The senior natural gas official said that in addition to making decisions about the creation of the technical committee, senior-ranking officials from the three countries will discuss ways to implement expanded trilateral cooperation, according to Mehr.

Iran, Qatar and Russia agreed in late October after a trilateral meeting in Tehran to form an OPEC-style organization for gas exporting countries.

The meeting between Iranian Oil Minister Gholam Hossein Nozari, Qatari Oil Minister Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, and the head of Russian energy giant Gazprom OAO (OGZPY), Alexei Miller, took place in Tehran on the same day OPEC Secretary General Abdalla Salem El Badri arrived in Moscow to meet with Russian government officials.

Gas producers such as Russia, Iran, Qatar and Venezuela have been talking for some time about a "gas OPEC" mirroring the 13-member Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, which meet more than 40% of the world's crude oil demand.
