to discuss advancing cooperation between Egypt’s petroleum sector and Energean’s concession areas for natural gas production in the Mediterranean Sea.
Badawi emphasized the ministry’s commitment to supporting partnerships, overcoming challenges, and delivering tangible results within its strategy to boost domestic natural gas production.
He also highlighted the importance of seizing the new opportunities in the Mediterranean region offered by the ministry for the exploration and production of natural gas resources.
Rigas confirmed the company’s commitment to investing and operating in Egypt, as well as supporting the plans to develop natural gas resources through activities in its current concession areas: Abu Qir, North Amriya, and North Idku.
He also expressed interest in expanding partnerships and exploring new opportunities to support future growth in the Egyptian natural gas exploration and production fields.
The meeting addressed means of cooperation in carbon capture and storage (CCS) and leveraging Energen’s expertise and the joint agreement between Egypt and Greece to implement environmental sustainability solutions and reduce carbon emissions.
