OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) Chairman Alexei Miller may meet European Union Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs Thursday, a spokesman for the company told Dow Jones Newswires Wednesday, as a gas dispute between Russia and Ukraine increasingly affects supplies to E.U. countries.
Members of the European Parliament will meet Thursday with Miller and Igor Didenko, first deputy chairman of Ukraine's Naftogaz, the assembly said in a separate statement Wednesday.
"At the moment the meetings are tentative, but they are not yet confirmed," the spokesman said.
A price dispute between Ukraine and Russia has started to seriously affect gas supplies to some European countries. Ukraine is a major transit country for Russian gas to reach the E.U. About 80% of Russian gas to the E.U. flows through Ukraine.
