Azerbaijan increased oil exports through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline 4.9% on the year to 27.292 million metric tons in January-September, the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, or SOCAR, said Monday, according to the Prime-Tass news agency.

The BTC pipeline carries Azeri oil from Baku in Azerbaijan to the Mediterranean port of Ceyhan in Turkey.

The pipeline transported 97.6 million tons of oil to Ceyhan since it launch in May 2006. Most of the oil was produced at the Azeri-Chirag-Gyuneshli contract area in the Caspian Sea.
