Thousands Protest in Hong Kong over China Security Law Proposal

Hong Kong police fired tear gas and pepper spray on Sunday at thousands of anti-government protesters who took to the streets to reject Beijing’s proposal to impose new security laws on the semi-autonomous Chinese territory. The demonstrators were shouting pro-democracy slogans, such as “Liberate Hong Kong”, “Stand with Hong Kong” and “Revolution of our times”.
