Cattaneo was speaking at an analysts' conference in Milan to present its 2008-2012 investment plan of more than EUR3.1 billion.
Earlier Thursday, Terna said in a statement it will increase its annual dividend payout for the 2008-12 period to at least 4% from 3%.
The Rome-based company will announce the 2007 dividend amount on March 11 with its financial results.
