French utility Electricite de France SA (1024251.FR) Chief Executive Pierre Gadonneix Wednesday confirmed the company is interested in buying Belgian unit Distrigas SA (DIST.BT) from Suez (SZE.FR.)
He made the comment at a press conference to discuss EdF's 2007 results.
Suez is required to divest Distrigas by E.U. antitrust authorities, as part of its planned tie-up with Gaz de France (1020848.FR).
Gadonneix also said EdF, while interested in entering the Spanish market, doesn't anticipate that it will be building any nuclear plants there.
