Gaz de France's (1020848.FR) European works council didn't state its opinion on the company's merger with French utility Suez (SZE.FR) during its meeting Thursday, French business daily Les Echos reported Friday.
Be it negative or positive, the point of view of the works council - a shop-floor organization representing workers - over the merger is mandatory for the merging process to go on, according to French law.
A new meeting has been set for Mar.10, Les Echos also reported.
Most unions of Gaz de France, a French state-controlled natural gas and electricity operator, oppose the merger with Suez that will lead to GdF's privatization.
