Polish market regulator URE is likely to approve a natural gas price increase for Polskie Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo, or PGNiG (PGN.WA) next week, a URE official said Wednesday.
Tomasz Kowalak, tariff department director at URE, told TVN CNBC television that new tariffs for PGNiG were "practically agreed," but that the regulator was still negotiating with gas pipeline operator Gaz System.
Last week, another URE deputy president said the regulator would probably approve a gas price hike for PGNiG ranging between 10%-20%.
PGNiG requested a 28% gas price increase to compensate for the rising cost of imported gas.
