Turkish gas and power firm Zorlu Enerji (ZOREN.IS), aims to reach a capacity of 4,000 megawatt by the end of 2014 with a $3 billion of investment, a company executive, Gokmen Topuz, told business daily Dunya, the Ihlas News Agency, or IHA, reported.
March 5, Zorlu Enerji, part of unlisted textiles to electronics conglomerate Zorlu Holding AS, won a privatization tender for the purchase of seven hydroelectric, one geothermal and one natural gas power plants, belonging to Ankara Dogal Elektrik Uretim, for $510 million. The firm said the total production capacity of the power plants is 140 megawatts.
Speaking to Dunya, Topuz said that 60% of the investment will be in Turkey and the rest will be in abroad.
"We are considering foreign firms that want to work with us," he said, adding that there isn't any official decision yet.
At 0840 GMT, Zorlu Enerji shares were trading 2.16% higher at 4.72 Turkish lira, amid a 0.24% lower overall market.
