Austrian high-technology machinery maker Andritz AG (ANDR.VI) said Thursday it has received a EUR40 million order for the delivery and service of a Francis turbine set for a Portuguese hydropower station.

The project will be undertaken by Andritz subsidiary VA Tech Hydro, while local company Ensul Meci will take care of supplies and installations, in a contract worth EUR13 million to Ensul Meci, Andritz said.

With the new Francis turbine set, the Bemposta hydropower station in northwest Portugal, which is owned by EDP Energias De Portugal SA (EDP.LB), will increase its capacity by 80%.

The new unit will be commissioned in the second half of 2011, Andritz said.
