Polish energy market regulator URE has approved an average 2% increase in electricity prices for regional distributors as of May, URE Deputy President Marek Woszczyk told TVN CNBC television Thursday.
The increases range from 1.68% to 2.08% depending on the region, and follow a 14% electricity price increase in February.
Woszczyk said he didn't believe there were grounds for another electricity price increase this year.
Higher electricity and natural gas prices are the main driver behind Poland's rising inflation, expected to peak at around 5% in August, well above the 2.5% central bank target.
