Oman hopes to finalize agreements to develop two Iranian natural gas fields jointly with the Islamic republic within three months, the Iranian oil ministry's official Shana Web site reported Tuesday.
Oman is in talks to complete a deal on joint exploitation of Iran's Hengam and Kish gas fields, Omani Minister of Commerce and Industry Maqbool bin Ali bin Sultan said during a trip to Tehran, Shana reported.
Oman and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding for the development of the Kish field, which may cost up to $12 billion, on March 21, Shana reported.
"By the next three months, all finalized agreements and contracts will be signed," Maqbool said, adding that more talks would be held, Shana reported.
Oman plans to import gas from Iran to meet rapidly rising domestic requirements.
