OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) is not in talks to take control of BP PLC's (BP) joint-venture TNK-BP (TNBP.RS), people familiar with both companies said, undermining a press report saying the price for the acquisition has already been set.
Vedomosti reported Thursday that Gazprom would take control of TNK-BP (TNBP.RS) and has already set a price tag of $20 billion.
But people close to the matter said no discussions are taking place.
In particular, BP Chief Executive Tony Hayward and Gazprom Chairman Alexey Miller didn't discuss the possible entry of Gazprom in TNK-BP when they met earlier this month, a person said.
