The flow of Iranian natural gas to Turkey was halted early Monday after an explosion at a gas pipeline in Turkish territory, the governor of the eastern Turkish city of Agri, Mehmet Cetin said, the Ihlas News Agency, or IHA, reported.

"No terrorist attack evidence was found as yet," he said in a statement, and noted that the initial explanation for the blast is an increase in gas pressure.

No-one died in the blast, which occurred 13 kilometers inside Turkish territory, and Turkish security forces made the area safe, Cetin said.

Iranian natural gas was cut at the beginning of this year for nearly three weeks after Turkmenistan turned off the tap to Iran. Turkey in turn was forced to stop its gas exports to western neighbor Greece and increase its imports from Russia.
