Oil major Total SA (TOT) said Thursday that 150 contractors at its Lindsey oil refinery in the U.K. walked out Tuesday over an employment issue.
No production was affected by the work stoppage, the company said.
"Total Lindsey oil refinery can confirm that 150 contractors walked out of work...over a contractor employment issue," said Iain Hutchinson, a Total spokesman based in the U.K. "We are working with union representatives to resolve the situation as soon as possible," he added.
The contractors were involved in building a new hydrodesulfurization unit at the Lindsey plant.
The Unite union, which represents workers on the site, was not immediately available to comment.
The Lindsey refinery has a capacity of over 200,000 barrels a day and is located on England's eastern coast.
