The German coalition has agreed on a "well-balanced" concept regarding the new version of the Renewable Energy law, environment expert and member of the conservative party, Christian Democratic Union, Maria Flachsbarth said Friday.
The official target is that 30% of Germany's electricity should come form clean renewable energy sources such as wind, sun, biomass and water power.
The promotion of solar power, however, has lately been a a point of difference between the Social Democratic Party and the CDU. The conservatives had proposed subsidies to be cut by up to 30%, while the SPD was advocating a reduction of not more than 8% a year.
The two parties have now come to an agreement, but Flachsbarth declined to provide any details regarding subsidies.
