Russia's state gas company OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) will start exporting liquified natural gas from its Sakhalin-2 project no later than January 2009, Deputy Chief Executive Alexander Medvedev said Wednesday.
Earlier, Gazprom said it would start export in the autumn.
Gazprom plans to become a world leader in the global LNG market through projects, which currently include Sakhalin-2 and the Shtokman field, which it operates together with France's Total S.A. (TOT) and Norway's StatoilHydro (STO), Medvedev said.
