Kurdistan's Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani arrived in Baghdad to discuss the long-awaited new federal oil law and oil deals signed between the Kurdistan Regional Government and international companies, said a statement by the KRG on its Web site Sunday.

"Barzani would discuss with the federal prime minister and officials the draft oil and gas law and the oil contracts signed by the Kurdistan government and other issues at dispute with the federal government," it said.

Federal Oil Minister Hussein al-Shahristani said in Amman last week that the Kurds differed with Baghdad on a drafted oil revenues law rather than the administration of the country's oil resources.

Al-Shahristani said oil contracts that the KRG signed with more than 20 international companies are nul and void because they weren't approved by the central government in Baghdad.

The Kurds maintain the deals are in line with the Iraqi constitution.

Disputes between the semiautonomous region of Kurdistan and Iraq's central government have delayed the oil and gas law for more than a year.
