Capacity on the U.K.'s 2,000-megawatt interconnector power link with France is to be halved from 0800 GMT to 1500 GMT Thursday during an investigation into and repairs on a fault on the U.K. side, French operator RTE said Tuesday.
Capacity on the interconnector from the U.K. to France has been functioning at reduced capacity of 1,500 MW since Monday due to the fault, while capacity from France to the U.K. will be at 2,000 MW until Thursday.
"RTE and National Grid have agreed a joint program of works to allow a full investigation of the cause and the appropriate remedial action," RTE said.
Daily capacity auctions from the U.K. to France have been suspended from Monday until Thursday. However, daily capacity auctions from France to the U.K. will continue unaffected throughout this period, RTE said.
The U.K.-French interconnector is jointly operated and owned by National Grid (NG.LN) and RTE, a subsidiary of Electricite de France (1024251.FR).
