A senior Pakistan government official said Iran has backed out of a
trilateral agreement to sell gas to Pakistan
and India,
the Pakistan News Service reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources.
Tehran is seeking new proposals on exporting gas
to Pakistan and India as part
of the Iran-Pakistan-India or IPI gas pipeline project, the news
service said, citing the sources, in a report published on the PakTribune Web
site.
One of Iran's
new demands includes wanting to be allowed a price review before the project
commences, the report said.
It said Pakistan's
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani convened a meeting Thursday to discuss
the issue.
