French state-controlled utility company Electricite de France SA (1024251.FR) will announce Thursday that the cost of the Flamanville nuclear plant it is building will increase to EUR4 billion from EUR3.3 billion, French daily Les Echos reports Wednesday, without citing its sources.
The power from the plant will now cost EUR55/MWh to produce, compared with EUR46/MWh previously, Les Echos reports, citing unnamed sources.
French daily Le Figaro also reports the increase in construction costs, adding that EDF will however announce at the investor day Thursday that it is sticking to the timetable for Flamanville, which forsees the plant coming on line in 2012.
