Turkish Energy Minister Hilmi Guler said Wednesday the country's Atomic Authority, or TAEK, will announce its decision on the tender to build the first-ever nuclear power station in the country Dec. 19 or Dec. 20, Ihlas News Agency reported.

Atomstroyexport, including Russia's Inter Rao and Turkish firm Park Termik, was the sole bidder in the tender held Sept. 24 to build and operate a 4,000-megawatt nuclear power station in Akkuyu, near the Turkish Mediterranean port of Mersin.

If TAEK approves Atomstroyexport after completing its evaluation, the price Atomstroyexport wants for the electricity produced will be disclosed.
