MOSCOW (AFP)--Russia's Gazprom (GZPFY) energy giant on Sunday called on the European Union to carry out monitoring of gas flows transiting Ukraine and promised additional volumes to make up for losses in Ukraine.
"Given that Naftogaz isn't allowing monitors engaged by Gazprom into gas monitoring stations in Ukraine, we sent a letter to the European Commission with proposals for ensuring independent monitoring of volumes of gas transiting Ukrainian territory," Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov said in televised comments.
