Spanish electricity company Iberdrola SA (IBE.MC) and Russia's Inter Rao EES OAO (IRAO.RS) Tuesday are slated to sign a cooperation deal, an Iberdrola press official said.
The two companies plan to study cooperation in electricity generation, distribution and supply.
The signing comes as Russian President Dimitry Medvedev visits Spain this week.
Iberdrola, is the world's biggest wind-power generator and Spain's largest electric power utility by market capitalization.
Inter RAO is the import-export arm of former monopoly RAO Unified Energy System of Russia, or UES.
