Ukraine's natural gas company Naftogaz is ready to meet its supply and transit obligations this winter, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reports Tuesday, citing a Ukrainian presidential envoy.

"Naftogaz...is as a whole prepared in terms of its basic resources and technical indicators to fulfil its functions of natural gas supplies and transit to Ukrainian consumers and our foreign partners," said Bohdan Sokolovskiy, the Ukrainian president's envoy for energy security.

Sokolovskiy said Ukraine has to date pumped about 26 billion cubic meters of gas into underground storage.

Ukraine has been embroiled in a number of gas-related disputes with Russia over the last two years, all of which have affected the movement of gas to western Europe.
