Ukraine will save up to $250 million in April thanks to Russia’s gas export discount, Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov told a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
“Already in April we will pay approximately by 2 billion hrivnas less than Ukraine should have paid under the previous enslaving contracts,” he said.
He stressed that the funds remaining in Ukraine’s economy should be injected into the introduction of energy saving technologies.
The prime minister instructed the government to create stimuli for this.
“Today we can say with confidence that a positive breakthrough in Russian-Ukrainian relations took place,” Azarov said. “The issues that hampered the development of bilateral relations were lifted from the agenda.”
“Ukraine will begin to restore its economic potential,” he said.
