China plans to expand its installed capacity to 1,600-1,650 gigawatts by
2020, with thermal power capacity at 920 GW, an industry official said in
prepared remarks ahead of a Thursday address at a McCloskey coal conference.
The share of thermal power in the total capacity will decrease to around 60% by
2020, said Xue Jing, director of the statistics and information department of
China Electricity Council.
Based on this target,
China
would
bring online an average of 60 GW of installed capacity every year, with an
average annual growth of 6%-7% in the next 10 years, Xue said.
The 2020 target includes 920 GW of hydropower, 70 GW of nuclear power, 150
GW-200 GW of wind power and 100 GW of solar power.
