year, a person close to the situation said Friday.
China has exported coal to Japan under long term contracts for decades, but as
it is becoming a net coal importer due to skyrocketing domestic energy demand,
some Japanese coal buyers were worried about the extension.
The current five year deal will expire at the end of next March.
