FYROM will hold talks
Friday with Russian gas company OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) on joining the
South Stream gas pipeline project, Russian news agency RIA Novosti
reports Tuesday, citing
FYROM's finance
ministry.
"We will do our best to persuade Gazprom that
the project is profitable both for the company and for the Republic
of Macedonia thanks to the creation of a South Stream transportation
corridor leg in the country. It is of great importance for future
stability and safety of gas supplies," Zoran Stavreski, the head
of the ministry, is quoted as saying.
The South Stream
pipeline will transport 63 billion cubic meters of Russian gas a year
to Europe via the Black Sea, the report says.
Eni SpA (E) and
Gazprom equally own South Stream and earlier this year agreed to sell
a minority stake to Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR).
