New regulation for renewable energy in
Spain
is
expected to be approved by the cabinet in November and come into effect at the
beginning of next year, Antonio Hernandez, general director for energy and
mines at
Spain
's
industry ministry, said Tuesday.
The regulation will include amended subsidies for new wind and solar parks, he
said. Possible cuts to subsidies of already existing photovoltaic solar
installations, however, likely won't be part of the new rules yet, as the
government continues to negotiate with the sector, Hernandez said.
The government and wind power and thermosolar associations reached in July an
agreement on the planned regulations, including cuts in subsidies of up to 45%
for thermal solar parks, and up to 35% for wind parks.
