The first photo-voltaic power plant in Bulgaria, which was built exclusively with Chinese investment near Ihtiman, will be launched on November 23 2010, Bulgarian media reported.

The facility, which has a total output capacity of two megawatt-peaks, was connected to the national grid in October, and on November 23 it will be launched officially in a ceremony attended by representatives of Chinese companies Polar Photovoltaics and Wiscom, the report said.

In total, Polar Photovoltaics and Wiscon hold 90 per cent share in the project called Betapark.

The Chinese firms had invested five million euro in the project, while 10 per cent was provided by the Bulgarian firm Sunservice.

According to the report, the 'preferential' price for electricity produced by solar plants, which was set by the state energy regulator, is 755 euro per MWh.

The solar park near Ihtiman is expected to produce about 2500 megawatt hours of electricity annually, which will provide a return on investments within seven years, the report said.

Betapark was constructed in seven months by Sunservice. Earlier, the Bulgarian company had also built the solar park near the village of Paunovo.
