French power group GDF Suez SA (GSZ.FR) aims to become Italy's
second-biggest natural gas company and its No. 3 electricity one by 2014 with
investments topping EUR1 billion, said a top official Monday.
GDF Suez wants to be

second-largest gas seller after Eni SpA (E) and the third biggest power
generator after Enel SpA (ENEL.MI) and Eni, said Director General Aldo Chiarini
of the local unit at an event in
Milan
reserved for reporters.
Chiarini said investments will be more than EUR1 billion to reach its target.
The Italian unit of GDF Suez expects gross operating profit to be EUR500
million with revenue close to EUR5 billion in 2010, he said.
At the same event, Chiarini said the company will remain a shareholder of Roman
utility Acea SpA (ACE.MI) despite the two ending their Italian energy venture.
GDF Suez
has a stake of about 10.5% in Acea.
