Turkey wants to privatize the state-owned pipeline and gas company Botas's 6 billion cubic meters natural gas contracts with Russia on the Blue Stream pipeline, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz said Thursday, the Ihlas News Agency, or IHA, reports.

"We are also in favor of extending the contract of the western link with
Russia , which will be renewed in 2011," Yildiz said in a press conference.

Last week, Yildiz said Turkey might hand over Botas's 6 billion cubic meters natural gas contract with Russia to the private sector wholly, partially or in blocks of 1 billion cubic meters, adding that the board of directors will take a decision on this issue next week.
