Greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union increased by 2.4% in 2010 compared with the year before, but the bloc remains "well on track" to meets its international target in reduce emissions, the European Environment Agency said Friday, citing preliminary data.
Greenhouse gas emissions in the European Union increased by 2.4% in 2010 compared with the year before, but the bloc remains "well on track" to meets its international target in reduce emissions, the European Environment Agency said Friday, citing preliminary data.

"The EU remains well on track to achieve its Kyoto Protocol target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions...according to first estimates," said the agency, which carries out studies and analyses that are then used by the EU institutions in policy making.
