German solar company SolarWorld AG (SWV.XE) said Thursday it plans to
complain over what it calls unfair competition from
China
in
the European Union.
"We are currently preparing a proceeding," Chief Executive Officer
Frank Asbeck told Dow Jones Newswires. He declined to reveal when the complaint
will be filed and which other companies will participate.
Wednesday, SolarWold said it has filed a petition with six other companies to
the U.S. Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission alleging
that Chinese manufacturers have been dumping solar panels on the
U.S.
market and received illegal subsidies from the Chinese government, which has
injured
U.S.
manufacturers.
European and
U.S.
solar
companies have been struggling for years with increasing competition and cheap
imports from
China
. Pricing
pressure has further intensified this year. German companies like Q-Cells SE
(QCE.XE) and Solon are fighting for survival and in the
U.S.
,
Solyndra LLC's collapse attracted much attention.
