Greece acquired its first two solar boats. The boats will be used for leisure trips in the protected areas of Small and Big Prespa lakes in the Greek borders with Albania, in the framework of the transnational project entitled “Green Boat.”
It is estimated that the project and the trips with the solar boats could contribute to the development of tourism as well as to the promotion of the region as an alternative tourist destination.
The “Green Boat” project is included in the Greece-Albania 2007-2013 program, aiming to promote the cultural and natural heritage of the Prespes lakes through solar boats trips. The project was presented at the First European Territorial Cooperation Conference: Promoting Best Practices-Sharing Experiences held in May in Thessaloniki under the Greek Presidency of the EU Council.
