A consortium made up of Turkey's Ronesans Endustri Tesisleri and Japan's
Kawasaki Heavy Industries will build a $1.5 billion (1.1 billion euro)
gas-to-liquids plant in Turkmenistan, Ronesans Endustri’s parent company,
Turkish conglomerate Ronesans Holding, said on Tuesday.
A groundbreaking
ceremony for the facility, which will be the largest of its kind in the world,
was held on Tuesday, Ronesans Holding said in a statement.
The plant, to
be financed by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, is expected to be
completed in 2018. It will produce 600,000 tonnes of gasoline per year, Turkish
media reported on Tuesday.
