Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Zorana Mihajlovic said that Serbia should again become an exporter of electricity, for which it needs to build new energy capacities. At a ceremony in Kladovo marking 50 years since the start of the construction of hydropower plant Djerdap 1 on the Danube River, Mihajlovic said that the strategic project aimed at building hydropower plant Djerdap 3 will certainly help meet this objective of the Serbian government.
She noted that the construction of Djerdap 1 was a major achievement, very significant for Serbia, and should serve as a reminder that new production capacities should be built.
The ceremony in Kladovo brought together Minister of Energy and Mining Aleksandar Antic, Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Chepurin and Director of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) Dusan Obradovic.
