Bulgaria’s gas transmission system operator Bulgartransgaz will open in the
first quarter of next year four tenders for the the provision of goods, works
and services on a 21.8 million euro ($27.5 million) project for the construction
of three gas pipelines, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
(EBRD) said on Friday.
The pipelines will have total length of 122
kilometers and will connect several municipalities to the national gas
transmission network, the EBRD said in a press release.
The Bulgarian
company will open a tender for the construction of gas transmission pipelines to
Svishtov, another one for a gas link to Panagiurishte and Pirdop, and a third
tender, seeking a contractor for the gas link to Bansko and Razlog. The company
will also open a tender for consultancy services on the project.
The
implementation of the project is expected to take some 50 months.
The
project will be financed on parity basis by Bulgartransgaz and grant resources
from the EBRD-administered Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support
Fund.
Earlier this year, Bulgartransgaz said the construction works on
the three gas transmission pipelines are planned to be completed by 2016. It
also said at the time that over 104,000 people from 12 municipalities, with an
estimates total annual gas consumption of 183 million cubic metres, will have
access to natural gas after the implementation of the
project.
Bulgartransgaz is part of state-operated energy holding firm
BEH.
