Romanian power supplier and distributor
Electrica, said on Monday itsnet profit surged612% to a preliminary
280.5million lei ($72.1 million/63.2 million euro) in 2014, mainly on the back
of a strong risein financial income.
Financial income rose to 257.6
million lei from 96 million lei in 2013,the company said in itspreliminary
unauditedincome statement for 2014.
Electricaearned 31 million lei from
the sale of shares held in other companies last year.
The utility turned
to an operating profit of 102,000 leifrom an operating loss of 53 million lei a
year earlier.
Electrica issimultaneously listed on the Bucharest Stock
Exchange and the London Stock Exchange with a free float of 51.2%.
The
Electrica group operates in highly populated and industrialised areas of
Romania. As at end-March 2014, Electrica’s distribution business operated 8,389
kilometres (km)of high voltage lines, 45,643 km of medium voltage lines and
134,834 km of low voltage lines.
