The Institute of Energy for SE
Europe (IENE) is convening ad hoc a one day conference in Vienna on March 12,
2015 in order to review latest developments in European gas markets following
the abandonment of South Stream and the emergence of the Turkish Stream project
and the huge implications arising thereof for European energy
security.
In addition the purpose of the conference will be to review
progress so far and to analyse the impact that specific gas transit projects are
going to have on the economies and to the overall development of the region and
how these may in the long run affect European energy supply. The meeting will
further focus on gas market integration, the uninterrupted flow of gas across
borders, the development and operation of new gas transit corridors and gas
trading hubs and how these could help improve the security of gas supply. In
this context IENE will bring together executives from several companies and
senior government officials from many countries.
This one day IENE
conference will start in the morning (9:00) of Thursday, March 12 and will
conclude on the evening of the same day (18.00). Four distinct sessions are
foreseen which cover the following subject areas:
The role of gas in European
energy security, gas pricing and the European gas industry, new gas supply
sources and transit routes, the role of gas infrastructure (gas transmission
systems, gas storage and LNG) in European energy security.
