US energy infrastructure provider CB&I said on Monday it has signed with Serbian oil and gas company NIS a deal for the technology license and front end engineering design of a delayed coker unit at its Pancevo refinery.

The project scope includes an extensive process planning study for the refinery, which will evaluate how to best integrate the delayed coker with the refinery's existing CB&I fluid catalytic cracking unit and Chevron Lummus Global hydrocracker, CB&I said in a statement.

Chevron Lummus Global is a joint venture between CB&I and Chevron.

The Serbian company operates two refineries - the second one is located in Novi Sad, with a combined annual capacity of 5.3 million t. The Pancevo refinery alone has an annual capacity of 4.8 million t.

NIS, majority-owned by Russia's Gazprom Neft, is one of the largest vertically integrated oil and gas companies in Southeast Europe. Its main activities include the exploration, production and processing of oil and gas, as well as the production and retail of a wide range of petroleum products.
