The inaugural Global
Oil&Gas Black Sea and Mediterranean conference and exhibition, took place in Athens, Greece.
Officially supported
by the Greek Ministry of Reconstruction of Production, Environment and Energy
the event attracted more than 30speakersand550
attendees.
Among them,
11 countries represented through
either NOCs or by Ministries.
Over 200
delegates took part on the first day of the conference with insightful
presentations from key industry professionals
focusing on
the latest hydrocarbons activity and developments in the Black Sea, East Med,
Ionian and Aegean Seas. Discussions highlighted
the huge potential of hydrocarbon
resources in the region, the technical challenges facing the industry today and
the need for international players to deliver results.
The first day of
discussions chaired by
Costis Stambolis, Executive Director, The
Institute for Energy in South East Europe (IENE)covered current industry topics such as "The Commercial & Strategic Landscape of Upstream
Development in South Eastern Europe”, "The Turkish Stream and the Caspian/East
Mediterranean Producers: Competitors or Complimentary Suppliers?”, "The Turkish
Black Sea: Positive Opportunities in E&P beyond 2015” and "The Challenges of Ultra-Deepwater: Can Black Sea become the next
Caspian or North Sea?” giving attendees an understanding of the regions
prospects and challenges in the region.
