SSE has ordered 36 3MW turbines for the 108MW second of four phases making up the Galway Wind Park development in western Ireland.

In July 2015, Siemens was contracted to supply 22 3MW turbines to the first phase of the site.

Financing for the €176 million development was agreed in mid-January.

Construction of the first phase continues and the second phase is expected to follow soon with completion expected in mid-2017. The second phase is being developed in conjunction with the forestry commission Coillte.

Coillte and Irish utilty Bord Na Mona have also awarded Siemens a 64MW deal to supply the Sliabh Bawn project in western Ireland.

Siemens will deliver 20 3.2MW turbines to the project.

The joint developers arranged project financing on 27 January for the €90 million development .

Construction has started at Sliabh Brown, which is expected online in early 2017.
